What is the best age to start?

It’s never too late or early to learn an instrument. We have students ages 4 to 85 currently taking lessons with us but we’ll give any age a try. We offer lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced level students and our teachers will tailor a lesson plan that fits your needs while making progress during every lesson.

How long are your lessons?

We offer half-hour and one-hour lessons. Most students driving further than forty-five minutes to one-hour for lessons generally take a one and half -hour lesson. Our lessons are offered monthly with no hidden fees, long term contracts or fine print.

Do you offer make-up lessons?

Many of our lessons can be offered and made-up online through our client portal. Can’t make this week’s lesson? No problem, we’ll post your lesson to your online account page and you can go through the material at your own pace. We’ll then see you at your next scheduled lesson in the studio. Our online portal is like having your teacher with you 7 days a week and makes a great teaching tool, especially for make up lesson options.

We offer make-up lessons for the following: Student sickness, death in family/emergencies, closure due to inclement weather, major holidays. Also, if your regular teacher is out and a substitute is not available we will make up the missed lesson. We ask that you notify us in advance of lesson cancellations. Unfortunately, we cannot make up lessons where there is no notification of the student being absent.

Is there a registration fee?

We do have a $25 registration fee that is charged at the first lesson. From time to time we offer specials where the fee is waived. Please ask if we don’t mention waiving the fee to see if we have any specials for that month.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Master Card, Cash and Check.

Monthly lesson tuition is automatically debited on the 10th day of each month. This reduces late fees for unpaid tuition and reserves your lesson time from month to month.

What books and materials will I need for lessons?

Our teachers use a variety of method books and texts from companies such as Hal Leonard, Mel Bay and other print music publishers. Each teacher may use a slightly different method so you will be assigned a book by that teacher. Most method books are $6 – $15.

Is there a contract for lessons?

We are month to month with a 30 day notice of cancellation to stop lessons and billing on or before the 10th day of the month you wish to cancel. Any 30 day cancellations received after the 10th day of the month will be applied towards the following month and tuition will be billed at the normal rate for that month. All registration and cancellations are completed online. Please note, we can not accept lesson cancellations via email or phone.

Do I need a guitar, bass or piano to get started?

You will need to purchase or rent an instrument for practice during lessons and at home (and to use in a Rock Academy™ band).

We offer terrific rental prices on guitars, basses, keyboards, amps and drum sets and all of our rental fleet are up to date new instrument models recommended by our teaching staff.

Please see our Helpful Information page for more on our recommendations for instruments. We have a great selection of guitars, basses, amps, drums, keyboards and other instruments that we hand select in our retail shops, so we can help you pick the right instrument for your needs. If you already own a guitar or bass guitar, please bring this with you to each lesson, but again we ask that you reference our Helpful Information section under the Lessons section of our web site. We have everything else you need, including amps, cords and tuners/metronomes in the lesson rooms for use during the lessons.

Do I need a drum set to get started?

We recommend a nice practice pad and sticks. Eventually you will need a drum set and we can help you with the purchase or rental instrument. We stock nice hand picked drum sets for the beginner to advanced player in our retail shops by major name brands. We have all the drums, practice pads, ear protection and sticks in our teaching rooms, but please bring a good pair of sticks and a notebook or folder. Our staff will be happy to help you with selecting the right instrument for your needs.
