“I wanted to let you know how much we have appreciated Joey as a drum teacher for Matthew, our son. Joey has been a patient and encouraging teacher, challenging Matthew to grow as a drummer and worked tirelessly to find music that would hold his interest and develop his skills. Joey gave of himself as he encouraged Matthew and gave him great advice. Joey helped Matthew have a good perspective on matters in his life and Matthew looked up to Joey as a mentor. We are very grateful for the years Matthew had with Joey as his teacher. Thank you so much for the wonderful service we have received and how much Joey cared for Matthew. We can’t thank him enough for that.
We wish him well and speak highly of him when we hear of someone needing a drum teacher. Our oldest son took guitar lessons with Andrew of a number of years and we have appreciated the kindness of your staff and the excellent service we have received over the years.”
Sincerely,
Michelle W.
Progressive Music Center’s drum teachers are the most sought after drummers around. Dexter Horton has been teaching at Progressive for over 10 years, followed up by Charles Barchuk at 7 years and Joey Stultz at 5 years, and the “new guys” are coming up on 3 years each. That says a lot about our crew and their dedication to their students and the art of drumming. Not to mention these guys have a combined 63 years of performance and teaching experience under their belts!
Our lessons are taught weekly on a private, one-on-one basis with one of our professional instructors in thirty-minute or one-hour lessons. We don’t believe in a one size fits all approach so our lessons are tailored to the individual student. We can cover everything from jazz to rock to gospel and R&B drumming. Lessons are offered year around and you may enroll at any time, and there is never an audition requirement or any preliminary study needed to take lessons with us.
In aiding to achieve each student’s goals, lessons are taught from various internationally renowned texts’, plus our own studio method books. We employee such tools as “Turn It Up and Lay It Down” play alongs for focus courses in bass guitar/drum set rhythm section studies, and encourage participation in our Rock Academy program to teach real world performance details with other musicians. We also utilize two drum complete drum sets in every teaching room and many of our teachers employee the latest in technology, such as iPads, so we can record and email lesson materials to students.
Along with each lesson topic, weekly practice material is given for take home studies. This material coincides with each lesson and serves as building blocks to the next stage in further understanding, knowledge and practice in building new skills. We guarantee results and we have confidence that students will realize improved performance levels in their playing abilities.
