Jim Chapin 1919 – 2009

James Forbes Chapin, legendary jazz drummer and educator, died July 4, 2009 in Florida just a few weeks shy of his 90th birthday.
Jim was an amazing drummer and a mentor to Progressive founder/owner Billy Cuthrell. Chapin held residency teaching students young and old at Progressive Music Center from 2001 until his health prevented him from traveling in 2006. Jim will be greatly missed for all of his stories, songs and solos, but most of all for his friendship and encouragement to all that meet him.
MusicTech Week 2
