(L to R) Progressive Music Center's Billy Cuthrell leads a panel presentation on Percussion In the Schools (PITS) with Karl Dustman (Percussion Marketing Council), Chad Smith (drummer Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Brad Smith (Hal Leonard)
Progressive Music Center firmly believes in the power of music and music education, and we are strong supporters of programs that bring music education into our schools and communities. That’s why Progressive Music Center works on a national level to make it better for our students and musicians on the local stage.
In partnership with organizations around the country we are helping to lead the way in making more musicians by encouraging active music making.
We’re all back from NAMM 2011 and what a trip! The big news, and the news that put a huge smile on Progressive Music Center’s main piano/keyboard instructor Jay Street’s face, is that we are now Korg dealers and will feature some Korg keyboards in our group piano classes and teaching rooms (Jay Street’s teaching room to be exact). Jay was very excited to play the Korg line and try out all the cool stuff in their booth. Pay special attention to the percussionist playing the drum machine in the video clip (he comes in around 5:33).
We also picked up some new recording software packages that are very user friendly and extremely friendly to your pocket book at only $65 for the full suite. This is some serious software that makes creating and recoding music easy and fun and we look forward to implementing it in our lessons for our students.
Here’s something from our “Cool Product” list as we saw it:
iCymbal – very cool holder for your iPad and iPhone with lots of uses from drummers, guitarists and other musicians. Check it out at icymbal.com
